Shepherd collects as little as it can. The app has no accounts and no analytics. This website counts visits without cookies, and uses analytics cookies only if you agree to them.

This website

The site is hosted by Vercel Inc. When you visit it, Vercel processes technical data such as your IP address and browser in its logs to deliver and protect the site (legitimate interest, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Analytics

Vercel Web Analytics counts page views without cookies or any identifier that follows you across sites or days. We see aggregate numbers such as pages, referrers, countries and device types (legitimate interest, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

PostHog runs only if you click Accept in the cookie banner (consent, Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and § 25 TDDDG). It then stores a cookie with a random ID and records the pages you view and what you click on this site, for example the Buy and Download buttons or which questions you open, along with your browser, device and approximate location. PostHog, Inc. processes this for us and stores it in its EU region (Frankfurt). If you decline, PostHog isn't loaded at all. You can withdraw your consent any time with “Cookie settings” in the footer; we then stop and delete PostHog's cookies from your browser.

Buying Shepherd

Payments are handled by Stripe, Inc. We don't see or store your card details. From Stripe we receive your email address, the payment status and the checkout reference, to let you download what you bought and to handle refunds (contract, Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). Stripe keeps payment records as required by tax law.

If you pay with a post on X, we check the post through X's public embed service and don't store it. If you choose $0, we receive nothing about you.

The Build Kit's download email is sent through Resend, Inc.

The app

Shepherd talks to Herdr on your Mac and, if you set them up, to your own machines over SSH. It sends nothing about your agents, workspaces or terminals to us.

The app checks tryshepherd.xyz for updates; that request contains your app version but no personal data. Your IP address is used for rate limiting only and discarded within an hour.

How long we keep it

Payment records are kept as tax law requires. Ask us to delete anything else at any time.

Your rights

You can ask for access to, correction of, deletion of, or a copy of your data, and object to or restrict its processing. Write to licenses@tryshepherd.xyz. You can also complain to a data protection authority, for example the Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information.

Some of these providers are based in the US; transfers rely on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses.
